Black Tiger Darios are a lesser-known relative of the Scarlet Badis, with bold dark vertical barring on a lighter body. Males develop more intense patterning and colour as they mature. They are a tiny micro predator with the same fascinating territorial behaviour as Scarlet Badis. A rare find in the hobby that appeals to nano fish enthusiasts and oddball collectors.
Home-bred by me in QLD and raised on live food.
- Adult size: 2–3cm
- Temperament: Peaceful but males are territorial with each other
- Best kept in: Nano species-only tanks or with very small, gentle tankmates
- Tank size: 20L minimum
- Temperature: 22–26°C
- Diet: Live and frozen food preferred
- Difficulty: Easy to intermediate
