Green Jade Shrimp - Neocaridina Davidi

Green Jade, sometimes sold as Green Diamond, is a lovely soft green shrimp that is a bit different from the usual reds and blues. They blend into a planted tank at first glance, then the closer you look, the more you notice them working over every leaf.

Their colour is at its best on a dark substrate with plenty of biofilm and algae to graze on, and it deepens once they settle into an established tank. Juveniles often look pale or slightly see-through and colour up as they grow, so give them a few weeks before you judge them.

Home-bred by me in QLD and raised in established tanks with plenty of biofilm and botanicals.

• Diet: Biofilm, algae, shrimp food, blanched vegetables
• Difficulty: Beginner-friendly
• Breeding: Easy, they will breed in your tank with no intervention
