Guppy grass is one of the fastest-growing plants you can get, it absorbs nutrients like nothing else, which makes it brilliant for keeping algae under control. I use it in almost every breeding tank because fry and shrimplets hide in it and graze on the biofilm it collects. It grows floating or planted in substrate, does not need CO2, and thrives in just about any lighting. Trim it back when it takes over, which it will.
