Medaka, Yokihi, Orange Medaka - Japanese Rice Fish - Oryzias Latipes

Yokihi medaka are a brighter, deeper orange than himedaka, with rich colour that really stands out in a group. They are one of the more vibrant orange medaka varieties and look fantastic in outdoor tubs where natural sunlight brings out their best colour. Named after a famous Chinese beauty, and they live up to the name.

Medaka are hardy, peaceful, and easy to breed. They do well in nano tanks, ponds, and outdoor tubs, and they do not need a heater. I breed my medaka outdoors in QLD following the natural seasons, which produces tougher, more colourful fish. They are social fish and do best in groups of 6 or more.
