A shingling climber that presses its leaves flat against the surface it grows on, overlapping them like roof tiles as it works its way up. The leaves are broader and more rounded than most Marcgravia, and new growth comes in a strong red before slowly hardening off to green, so an actively growing piece has colour running through the top of it at all times. Like the rest of the genus it is slow to get going and will often sit still for a few weeks after planting while it grips on. Press it flat against damp cork or wood and hold it there with a clip or a bit of fishing line until it roots in, then leave it alone. It needs consistently high humidity in a lidded setup, and it will tell you quickly if the air is too dry.
