Needle leaf java fern is a striking variety of java fern with long, narrow leaves that create a grass-like, flowing effect in the aquarium. The thin leaves give it a much more delicate appearance than standard java fern, making it a popular choice for aquascapers who want fine texture in the midground or background. Like all java ferns, attach it to driftwood or rock rather than planting it in substrate. Do not bury the rhizome or it will rot.

It is one of the easiest plants to grow. It thrives in low light, does not need CO2, and is almost impossible to kill once established. Over time it will produce baby plantlets on its leaves that you can detach and spread around the tank. Shrimp enjoy grazing on the biofilm that develops on the fine leaves.

  • Growth rate: Slow to moderate
  • Light: Low to medium
  • CO2: Not required
  • Placement: Attach to hardscape (do not plant in substrate)
  • Difficulty: Beginner-friendly

You will receive one needle leaf java fern plant.
