Hecqui's Cichlid is a sleek, predatory shell dweller that is quite different in behaviour to the smaller species. They are more of a lurking ambush predator, using shells for shelter rather than territory in the same way Multies or Ocellatus do. They have a streamlined body with subtle patterning and are a fascinating species for experienced keepers who want something beyond the usual shell dwellers.

Home-bred by me in QLD. These fish need a sand substrate and shells or rocky cover.
